APSCA India's highly successful forum for transport payments stakeholders will be held in New Delhi on 27-28 February 2020. Transport Payments South Asia 2019 was attended by nearly 200 delegates and supported by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. This important conference will again provide unique opportunities for government authorities, transport organisations, banks and industry experts to discuss the issues that are driving the transport payments business in India today.


Target Audience
APSCA India will invite transit authorities, transport operators, ticketing and tolling schemes to attend Transport Payments South Asia 2020 using our extensive database of transport industry stakeholders. In a market where transport payments and revenue management is increasingly outsourced, delegates will include leading partners including banks and payments services providers that are targeting transport ticketing to grow their payments businesses. Transit systems integrators and transport ticketing solutions providers from South Asia and international markets will attend, speak and exhibit.

The Next Stage - NCMC Interoperability
India has a long-term objective to adopt EMV-based open-loop ticketing nationwide as a basis for National Common Mobility, but the reality is that closed-loop and open-loop transport ticketing are likely to coexist in India for some time, particularly for existing schemes. As transport authorities and banks in India embark on implementing Common Mobility schemes, Transport Payments South Asia 2020 recognises that the next challenge will be rolling out NCMC nationwide.

Practical Strategies for India
The task for government and transport authorities is to decide the best strategies to achieve local, regional and national interoperability for transport payments in India. This will need to be based on existing transport ticketing infrastructure, transport payment models available today, planning for future transport payments solutions, and long-term objectives. Interoperability must also cater for effective risk and fraud management. All of this must be done while considering costs, available budgets and benefits to be delivered to customers.

Program Innovations
The 2020 conference program features new elements designed to help stakeholders continue the transition to NCMC-based transport payments in India while planning and laying the groundwork for interoperability. These include a workshop on understanding the key issues for and building a roadmap towards interoperability. Workshop is presented by one of was leading experts on standards for transport ticketing. The workshop will be followed by a working group meeting to collect industry views and discuss strategies for achieving interoperability in India. This will be followed by a full day program of latest developments in transport and mobility payments.
