NGK's EnerCera® battery series are ultra-thin rechargeable batteries suitable for powered smart cards. With NGK’s original Crystal Oriented Ceramic Plate as electrodes, EnerCera battery has the high energy capacity to implement fingerprint sensor, display and BLE communication circuits in the smart card. Furthermore, EnerCera battery is the world’s first Li-ion battery which can be embedded in smart card using hot lamination process. Moreover, EnerCera battery has the fast charging capability which enables charging by the contactless card reader or with smartphone via NFC. Also the huge peak discharge current (500mA) enables LPWA communication. Based on the above features, EnerCera battery will open the door for the next-generation cards.
